Ham Helper Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 16, 2026

This policy covers the Ham Helper app ("Ham Helper: Antenna Tools" on the App Store), published by ShiverLogic.

Summary

Ham Helper does not collect, sell or share personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Everything you enter in the app, including saved antenna setups and settings, stays on your device.

Network use

Ham Helper works offline. The only time it connects to the internet is when you download or update the optional callsign database. Those files are served by GitHub (GitHub, Inc., a Microsoft subsidiary). As with any web request, GitHub receives your IP address and basic device information, which it handles under its own privacy statement: https://docs.github.com/en/site-policy/privacy-policies/github-general-privacy-statement. We do not receive or store this information.

Callsign data

  • Source. Callsign lookups use the U.S. Federal Communications Commission's public Universal Licensing System (ULS) amateur license data, which the FCC publishes for anyone to download and search (https://www.fcc.gov/uls). Ham Helper is not affiliated with the FCC.
  • What is included. For current licenses only (including licenses within the FCC's two-year renewal grace period, which the app labels as expired): callsign, licensee name, license class, city, state, 5-digit ZIP code, and grant and expiry dates. The app also shows an approximate grid square (about 110 × 160 km), estimated from the ZIP code's center.
  • What is never included. Street address, PO box, FCC Registration Number (FRN), email address, phone number or license history.
  • Where it is kept. The callsign database is stored only on your device. Your lookups are never sent anywhere.

Removing your callsign

Your license record is public at the FCC, but you can ask us to remove it from Ham Helper's copy. Email support@shiverlogic.com with the subject "Callsign removal" and include your callsign. We may ask you to confirm that you hold the license. Once confirmed, your record is excluded from the next data build, and devices remove it the next time they update their callsign data.

To change what the FCC itself publishes, update your license record in the FCC's ULS.

Children

Ham Helper is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
